About Sciatica

Sciatica pain can be excruciating. The pain associated with sciatic nerve involvement is typically severe and usually radiates down the one or the other of the legs and can span from the back to the foot, ankle, and toe. Sciatica can be a constant nagging ache and may involve weakness, tingling or burning sensation.

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica is a term that describes the symptoms of pain, numbness and weakness that travels down the leg. In most cases the pain will only be on one side of the body and can occur with or without lower back pain. The sciatic nerve originates from the spinal cord at the lumbosacral area, and is the largest nerve in the human body.

Causes of Sciatica

Most cases of Sciatica is caused by inflammation at or near the nerve root. This can be caused by spinal disc herniation that is pressing on one of the lumbar or sacral nerve roots. In addition, some other causes include degenerative conditions like lumbar spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis. Piriformis Syndrome is another cause that can often be overlooked. The piriformis muscle is a small muscle located in the buttock that can become inflamed and irritate the sciatic nerve nearby.

Sciatica Treatments

Thorough examination and diagnostics are the key to determining the best method of care for sciatica. Conservative Chiropractic therapy is the safest and one of the most effective treatment procedures for Sciatica pain. More severe cases may need pain management and possibly surgical intervention.

3 Steps to Improving Your Sciatica

About 2 or 3 months ago, I swung a golf club and felt a little twinge in my lower back. It went away fairly quickly, but then I started to get radiating pain from my back to my lower leg. This was incredibly painful, and did not get better with ice or heat at home. I decided to go see my doctor. She suggested chiropractic care for the diagnosis Sciatica. I've been going for motion therapy, adjustments and therapy for a month and it's helped me a great deal.

My wife started experiencing pain and tingling in her leg a few months ago . The pain came and went for a while, and she was able to manage with over the counter medicines. Her family doctor called it sciatica. She picked up our daughter last week and nearly went to the floor with severe leg pain. I came across the Pain Away Clinics online and scheduled hher for a consultation. Now after two weeks of motion therapy the leg pain is gone and the tingling is way less. Glad I found this for her.

I initially started experiencing pins and needles and pain in the right leg. When it spread to the foot and toes after a couple of weeks I became very concerned. The pain seemed to be getting worse, and would not decrease much even with medication. I found the Pain Away site online and saw that my symptoms matched those of Sciatica. I went for a consultation and ended up going for a series of motion therapy sessions. Now, a month later, I am more energetic than I have been in ages! Thank you guys, for giving me my health back.
